Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about baking the perfect anonymous Q&A experience.
✨ General
What is CinnamonQA?
CinnamonQA is a cozy, community-moderated anonymous Q&A platform built for creators, VTubers, and online personalities. It allows your audience to send you questions or digital sketches ("Cinnamon Rolls") safely.
Unlike other platforms, CinnamonQA focuses heavily on creator mental health by providing advanced human moderation, AI negative speech filtering, custom rate limits, and audit logs.
How does CinnamonQA protect creators from harassment?
We use a multi-layered defense system:
- AI Negative Speech Detection: Evaluates incoming messages for toxicity, harassment, and hate speech before they reach any human eyes.
- Human Moderation: You can add trusted moderators to approve or reject questions in a separate queue, shielding you from toxic messages entirely.
- No Feedback Loop: Senders never know if their question was rejected or shadow-banned. Trolls receive no reaction or confirmation, quickly discouraging them.
- IP Rate-Limiting & Bans: Instantly restrict or block abusive IPs dynamically.
Is CinnamonQA free to use?
Yes! CinnamonQA is completely free to use. All features—including drawing submissions, moderation teams, AI safety filters, and custom rate limits—are available to everyone out-of-the-box.
👑 For Creators
How do I set up my profile and start collecting questions?
Simply log in using your Twitter/X account. A unique page will be created for you at /user/your_username. You can copy this link and share it on your social media profiles, video descriptions, or Twitch panels to start collecting anonymous questions.
What profile settings can I customize?
In your Settings dashboard, you can customize:
- Pause Inbox: Temporarily stop accepting any new questions.
- Auto-Approve: Let questions bypass moderation and appear directly in your answered inbox (not recommended for large creators).
- Rate Limiting Level: Choose between Strict, Standard, or Off to control how frequently an individual IP can submit questions.
- Max Question Length: Set character limits for incoming text submissions (up to 500 characters).
- Allow Drawings: Enable or disable the interactive drawing canvas for your page.
- Privacy Toggles: Choose whether to show answered questions publicly and whether to display the exact timestamps.
How does human moderation work?
When a user submits a question and you have moderators, the question enters a Moderator Queue.
Your moderators can review the pending questions, look at the AI toxicity scores, and either Approve or Reject them. Approved questions move to your inbox where you can answer them. Rejected questions are safely discarded, and you never have to see them!
How do I invite and manage moderators?
Go to the Settings page, click the Moderators tab, and click Generate Invite Link. Copy this link and send it privately to trusted members of your community.
When they open the link while logged into their CinnamonQA account, they will automatically join your moderation team. You can view your current moderators and revoke their access at any time from this dashboard.
What is the difference between Creator blocklists and Shared blocklists?
CinnamonQA offers two types of custom keyword lists in the Blocklist settings tab:
- Creator Blocklist: Words or phrases that are private to you. Only you can view or modify them. Moderators cannot see this list, but any question containing these words is automatically filtered.
- Shared Blocklist: A collaborative keyword list. Both you and your moderation team can view, add, or remove words. This is useful for keeping moderators aligned on what topics or phrases to filter out.
What is the Audit Log?
The Audit Log (found in the settings panel) is a transparent history of all moderation actions. It records who approved/rejected a question, who banned an IP, who resolved reports, and when moderators joined.
This ensures full accountability, allowing you to monitor your moderators' activities and verify that decisions align with your community guidelines.
Can I delete or wipe all answered questions?
Yes. If you wish to start fresh, go to the General settings tab, scroll down to the bottom, and click Wipe Answered Questions. Confirming this action will permanently delete all your answered questions and their replies from the database. This action is irreversible.
🛡️ For Moderators
What are my responsibilities as a moderator?
As a moderator, you protect the creator's peace of mind. Your duties include:
- Reviewing pending questions in the Moderator Dashboard.
- Approving kind, relevant, and engaging questions.
- Rejecting questions that violate safety guidelines (hate speech, spam, harassment).
- Banning persistent trolls and resolving flagged user reports.
Can moderators see senders' personal info?
No. Senders' privacy is strictly protected. Neither creators nor moderators can see a sender's actual IP address or personal details for anonymous questions.
CinnamonQA hashes IP addresses in the database so that bans can be enforced without ever revealing the sender's identity or location to the moderation team.
💬 For Senders
Do I need to sign up to ask a question?
No! You can submit text questions or drawings anonymously without registering or logging in.
However, if you choose to sign in, you gain access to the Sent Questions Tracker on your dashboard. This lets you monitor in real-time whether your questions are pending or have been answered by the creators!
Are my questions completely anonymous?
If you submit a question while logged out, you are completely anonymous; only your hashed IP address is logged in the database to prevent rate-limit abuse (your actual IP is never visible to creators or moderators).
If you submit a question while logged in, your account is automatically linked to the question as a sender. This is required so you can track it in your Sent Questions Tracker. However:
- The creator, the moderator team, and the public feed will only see your question marked as "Signed-in User" (your username, display name, avatar, and profile link are hidden from all of them).
- Only system superadmins can see the account names of logged-in senders to investigate critical platform abuse or safety escalations.
If you want to be completely anonymous to everyone, including the moderation team, simply log out before sending your question!
How does the digital drawing canvas work?
If the creator has enabled drawings, you will see a canvas option next to the text area. You can draw sketches, doodles, or handwritten messages directly in your browser.
The drawing canvas supports multiple brush sizes, colors, undo/redo states, and a clean tool. Once sent, the drawing is stored as scalable vector stroke data in the database and rendered beautifully for the creator and moderators.
🤖 Safety & AI Filters
How do the AI safety filters and custom blocklists work?
CinnamonQA uses a two-step automated moderation flow when a text question is submitted:
- Custom Blocklists: Checks if the question contains any keywords or phrases from your Creator or Shared blocklists. If a match is found, it is flagged as
Blocked Word Matched: "word". - AI Safety Check: Passes the text through our AI safety filter to check for violations across categories like harassment, hate speech, self-harm, sexual content, and violence. If flagged, it is tagged as
AI Flagged Categories: [categories].
If a question triggers either check, its status is immediately set to "rejected". It bypasses the main pending queue and is placed directly into the Filtered tab in your dashboard, where you or your moderators can see exactly why it was filtered.
What is a Shadow Ban?
A Shadow Ban is the ultimate defense against persistent trolls.
When a creator or moderator shadow-bans a user (or their hashed IP), that user is still allowed to type questions or draw sketches and submit them. They will receive a success message saying their question was sent.
However, in reality, their question is silently discarded in the database and marked as shadow-banned. It never shows up in the creator's inbox or the moderator queue. Because the troll has no feedback and believes they are successfully sending messages, they eventually get bored and leave.
How do Reports work?
In CinnamonQA, reports are an internal escalation tool for creators and moderators, rather than a public flagging feature.
If a creator is reviewing their inbox and encounters a harassing or suspicious question, they can choose to check the Alert Moderator (Report) option in the action card.
This marks the question as reported and pushes it to the Moderator Queue. Your moderators will immediately see the reported question highlighted and can collaboratively review the reason, confirm the violation (such as issuing temporary or shadow bans), or dismiss the report if appropriate.
